An absorber is a headmate who “soaks up” either the optimism or pessimism of other system members. They mirror that optimism or pessimism. They may be connected with another headmate who represents either the optimist or pessimism they choose to absorb.[1][2]
The term was coined by Tumblr user dodstoldpackage on May 14th, 2020.[1] This coin has been further preserved through a Google website created on an unknown date.[2] Two flags were created by Tumblr user mogaiboards on November 2nd, 2021.[3]
The term is most likely based off the word "absorb", as absorbers soak up or absorb.
