Floaters are members of DID/OSDD-1 systems who aren't connected to one subsystem. They have easier access to communication with other subsystems than other types of alters do, and can hold more knowledge about their system due to their unique role. They are often gatekeepers or internal self helpers (ISHs), but not all floaters are one of these system roles. The term was coined by multiplemogai on Tumblr[1] and is a term exclusive to[2] at least partially traumagenic DID or OSDD-1 systems, including mixed-origin traumagenic DID/OSDD-1 systems.
